WTF Summer Tour with Bwana Spoons

(download)

Bwana Spoons is taking to the road this summer with his first monograph-
Welcome To Forest Island, published by Top Shelf.
All 144 full-color pages ‹ including paintings, maps, sketches, comics, and
more ‹ are dedicated to Forest Island: the wild, hyperchromatic paradise
Spoons has been constructing with his art for several years. The denizens of
this mind-bending island include sweet whale-gators, boozy super-cicadas,
arrow-slinging, basket-weaving bearded love tribes, an ex-hobo mushroom
farmer, and one brutally intense bat who plays drums in a proto-metal band
and would do just about anything to make a bagel relinquish its jelly
filling!

Along with the book bwana will be bringing-
Custom toys, and some sold out goodies.
Killer the whalegator. Small editions that will be site specific.
Steven the Bat. Brand new sculpt premiering during the WTF tour.
Original art, prints, tees, and more goodies for everybodies eyeballs.
And lastly Bwana will come ready to rumble. Prepare to battle at Super 7
Pencil Fighting Championship.

Friday, July 17th, at the Super7 Store.

Bwana Spoons is a painter and designer living in the Pacific Northwest. He
runs a gallery  and boutique in Portland with his partner Justin Scrappers
Morrison. Among his published works are several zines Moonshine, Pencil
Fight, and Soft Smooth Brain to name a few.
Bwana has worked for and with Gargamel, Adidas, Nike, Nickolodeon magazine,
Converse, Pinball Publishing, StrangeCo, Dekline, Foundation, Hessenmob,
Vans, Laika, WK, Bumbleride, Super 7, and more.

More about the book:
Rendered in swaths of psychedelic fluorescents in a flurry of wild yet
delicate brushwork, the explosive pages of Welcome to Forest Island
establish Bwana Spoons as the cuddliest art-monster around, whose furious
imagination is matched only by the intimacy of his handskills.
The thoughtful and provocative design, by Tokyo wunderkind Ian Lynam,
elevates Spoons' opus beyond a 'mere' collection of jaw-dropping artwork to
a true coffee table gem. Cloth-spined and case-bound, this full-color
compendium heralds not only the birth of a wild and woolly nation, but also
the arrival of a major new force in the art world. -- Full-Color Hardcover
Art Book, 144 pages, 6 1/2" x 9"

Grasshut's Babe Bunyan

Babe_bunyan

Legend has it that the magical, mythical beast, Babe Bunyan, wanders the Pacific Northwest, an icon of wild freedom.  Until recently, evidence of this rare creature was limited to personal accounts and paintings by Portland based artist Justin 'Scrappers' Morrison.  Now, Babe Bunyan has been realized as an articulated toy, produced entirely in Portland, Oregon, by Grasshut and Arne Industies.  To Celebrate the release of this epic symbol of Northwestern culture, Grasshut has created a series of custom painted Babe Bunyans, available now.
